The bathtub curve
Electronic failure rates follow a bathtub curve: a short period of early "infant mortality", a long flat useful life and a final wear-out phase. Burn-in deliberately stresses every unit so that weak components fail in our factory instead of at a customer site.
What happens on the racks
Each system is loaded with a production image and runs automated CPU, memory, storage and I/O stress scripts for 24 to 72 hours depending on its tier. Chamber temperature is cycled while a central server logs every error, reboot and thermal throttling event against the unit serial number.
Traceability you can request
Burn-in results are stored with the board-level AOI, X-ray and in-circuit test data for every serial number. Enterprise and mission-critical customers can receive the complete test record with their shipment.
The result
Since expanding the line to more than 1,200 test positions, our field return rate in the first 90 days has fallen below 0.3 percent across all product families.
